My thoughts on the New Year...

I remember this time last year, I was SO ready for the year to end. I was working a job I hated and had been able to take all of two days off for the holidays. I felt so lost and confused and frustrated with my life and could only hope a New Year would bring some insight into my future. (Not to mention on top of all that, my sister in law had died about a week earlier). Don't get me wrong, I was happy in my life but very restless and longing for a purpose.

This year I feel different. I look back on 2009 with a smile on my face. I can honestly say it was a great year. In 2009 I:
- Quit my job at Pain and Health Management (and never looked back I might add).
- Started back to school and made a 4.0! (that will be a memory soon as I take my one and only math this semester, EEK!)
- Chris and I bought our first home which we LOVE and feel so at home here already!
- Moved from Katy to Tomball (okay, this is a NEGATIVE. You can't win them all, I guess.)

There is definitely more but those were just the major points. I will write more later about my New Years resolutions when I get some together (as well as how I did on last years resolutions HA HA HA!) Hopefully I will have pictures to post, although I just looked in the mirror and may "forget" my camera at home tonight :o)

I leave you with this...New Years Eve 2008
Chris, Mylie and I are headed over to my Mom and Dad's for pizza, junk food, drinks, games, Wii, and fireworks with family! Just the way we love to ring in the New Year!!! I hope and pray everyone has a safe and happy New Year!

Christmas break....so far....

It's hard to believe I have been out of school for a week and a half and even MORE hard to believe that Christmas is in 3 days!!!!!!!!!! Where does the time go?

The best gift I have EVER gotten...my Mylie!!!

Christmas dinner at Maggiano's with my BFF Laura and her fiance Morgan! It was SOOOO fun! (I look big as a barn...please excuse me.)

We had Christmas early with Chris's family! (Mamaw, Mackenzie, Chris, and me. Judie, my mom-in-law, was taking the picture).

Mylie opening her Christmas presents! (A new bed, a frisbee, and a toothbrush...she was not thrilled with the toothbrush, lol!)

Mylie seems to really like her new bed (unless she has access to Mom and Dad's bed ;o))

This was the best picture I could get of our lights!

I hope everyone has a VERY Merry (and safe) Christmas and a VERY Happy (and safe) New Year! I pray everyone will remember the REAL reason for the season, the birth of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior! I'm SO excited for this Christmas and all the time with family! I'll post pictures when I get back from the farm on Dec 27th!

Snow (kinda, sorta)

Well, the majority of Houston and its surrounding areas got 1-3 inches of snow today! We, in the black hole hick town otherwise known as Tomball, got about 1/2 an inch. It snowed a TON but next to nothing seemed to stick! Oh well, it was still so fun and such a rare occurrence here! Chris and I enjoyed every second, Mylie Moo on the other hand seems to hate snow even more than she hates rain! There go my plans for a winter house in Breckenridge, Colorado ;o)

Mom, can we please go in now?

What the heck is this?

We had flurries all morning, but it FINALLY started to really come down around 2pm and lasted about 2 hrs!

The ONLY thing that could get her out in the snow again was Daddy coming home!

Brrrrr!

Not often we born and bred Texans see snow!!!

Chris's #1 concern: his plants.

Happy Thanksgiving...HOOK EM HORNS!!!

We had a great Thanksgiving! We spent the morning making sangria, chocolate bread pudding, and mac and cheese which all turned out fantastic! We had a great lunch at Grandma's with my family, a quick visit with Chris's dad's family, and then Mom, Dad, Matt, and Sarah came over to cheer the Longhorns on to victory against the POOOOOOOOOOOOOOR aggies!!! It was a bit of a nail bitter and the defense was horrible. Colt McCoy and our offense pulled it out, proving ONCE AGAIN why Colt deserves the Heisman!!! It is now way past my bed time and I'm off to sleep. HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Good luck to all the brave souls going out to shop tomorrow...I will be home studying for finals :o(

Please pray...

There was a shooting at Fort Hood today! Many hurt and killed! PLEASE pray for the soldiers, families, and friends! These people are protecting our country every day, their families are sacrificing for us every day, and to have them attacked like this makes me so sick! Pray that God will be felt there in this scary, confusing, devastating time! I went to school just outside Killeen, TX, and I know so many wonderful people there. My heart hurts so much for them!

Halloween 2009

Lol, we ended up putting this sign out because the Longhorns were kicking major butt again Osu, and we didn't want to miss a single second! What a GREAT Halloween!!!!

We decided to use Mylie's Halloween costume from last year since it still fit her and Chris and I couldn't agree on a new costume :o

Me and my Pumpkin Halloween 2009

I couldn't believe I got her to stand still for this one!!!

Our front door area turned out pretty cute except for the door cover that didn't even come close to covering the door! We had some pumpkin lights out front as well.

Some of the inside Fall decorations.

Our first Halloween in our new home will be spent cheering for our Horns against Oklahoma St (oh man, I hate them!). HOOK EM HORNS!!!! Oh, and handing out the candy we don't eat, of course! I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!

Personal prayer request

I spent the night/early morning yesterday in a local ER clinic with severe abdominal pain, vomiting, and fever. Chris and I both were afraid it was appendicitis, as I never, EVER run a fever (the last time I had a fever was in 2007 when I was bleeding internally from an ovarian tumor). Anyway, the people there were great, really fast, and got me in for a CT scan to rule it out. I did not have appendicitis but a bad viral infection.

Here's the bad news, during the CT scan they found a cyst on my liver. I go into the Dr tomorrow to have it further looked at/evaluated. Most times, these cysts are nothing and do no cause any harm. Unfortunately, there are times when they are serious (cancerous, another disease process, etc). I would just appreciate any quick prayers on my part tomorrow. I am doing my best to give it to God and not worry sick about it (and failing miserably, btw). So if ya know me, like me, or just feel bad for me (:o)) I'd appreciate the prayers!

I will definitely post next week when I get any results back. I have a school update post in the works as well that I hope to finish...ya know...before the semester is over!

Happy 3 year Wedding Anniversary!!!

When I think that 3 years has already passed since our wedding day, September 30, 2006...wow! So much has changed! We have moved cross country and back, bought our first home, have the most wonderful baby girl in the world, and now I'm back in school! We have been through living thousands of miles from family or friends, sickness, surgeries, hospitalizations, deaths in the family, job changes, and so much more! I am so glad all that has brought us closer and so proud of all we have survived and accomplished together! I love him more than the day I married him!

PS- Is it vain that while looking through my wedding photos, my most prominent thought (aside from how wonderful the day was) is how much thinner and younger I use to look. Grrrrr! Depressing...
